Action & Body Orientated Trauma work uses the SPIM 30 treatment model and is specifically suited to very difficult life experiences; particularly those where someone felt threatened by what happened such as where they nearly died or were overpowered by someone. To begin with the therapist creates a safe environment from which difficulties are gradually explored and processed using visualisation techniques, physical actions and words at various stages. It explores difficulties when memories of the event are vague or even absent. Due to the nature of this work (and the type of difficulties it works with) it can be longer in duration but effective in resolving issues more effectively (perhaps where other therapies haven’t been able to completely reduce distress).
